project overview
While working at Code and Theory in 2022, I collaborated with Goldman Sachs' internal product and design teams on a series of investment management interface enhancements. The project focused on improving the usability and organization of key investment workflows while maintaining alignment with the firm's established design standards. Working within a large enterprise environment, I contributed to interface design, design system expansion, prototyping, and UX exploration as part of a cross-functional team of designers, product managers, and stakeholders.

Improving Complex Investment Workflows The project involved evaluating and redesigning several investment management experiences used to review, monitor, and manage financial products. To inform design decisions, our team analyzed existing workflows, reviewed comparable industry products, and conducted UX evaluations to identify opportunities for improved clarity and efficiency. The resulting concepts focused on simplifying information presentation and creating more intuitive navigation paths through complex investment-related tasks. Designing Within an Enterprise Design System A significant portion of the work involved operating within Goldman Sachs' established design system and brand guidelines. Using existing components as a foundation, I created new interface patterns, expanded component functionality, and adapted system elements to support evolving product requirements. Component variants and state-based configurations were leveraged extensively to represent the numerous scenarios and workflow conditions present throughout the platform, allowing designs to remain scalable and consistent across a wide range of screens. Collaborative Design & Prototyping Throughout the engagement, I worked closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders through regular reviews, prototype walkthroughs, and iterative feedback sessions. Designs were created in Figma and organized to support both stakeholder presentations and future implementation efforts. By combining reusable system components with detailed page-level mockups, the team was able to communicate complex user experiences while maintaining consistency with the broader product ecosystem. Final Result The project successfully delivered a collection of refined investment management experiences that aligned with Goldman Sachs' enterprise design standards while improving usability and scalability. Through close collaboration, design system thinking, and iterative product design processes, the work contributed to a broader effort to modernize and enhance critical investment workflows within a highly regulated financial environment.
