Aeva

project overview

Aeva is a self-initiated mobile app concept exploring a more intuitive and engaging approach to fitness and activity tracking. Inspired by contemporary fitness platforms and wellness applications, the project focuses on creating a cohesive digital experience that brings workout discovery, personalized training, and progress monitoring together. The objective was to explore how thoughtful UI design, intuitive navigation, and a flexible visual system could simplify the way users find workouts, track their activity, and stay connected to their fitness goals, while establishing a distinct and approachable brand identity.

Aeva (Exploratory)

The project began with an exploration of existing fitness and wellness applications, examining how established platforms approach workout discovery, activity tracking, and user engagement. Through competitive research and visual reference gathering, I studied common navigation patterns, information architecture, filtering systems, and approaches to presenting fitness data. This process helped identify opportunities to simplify complex interactions while maintaining the depth of functionality users expect from a modern fitness application. Building on this research, I developed my own design direction for Aeva, translating observations and inspiration into a cohesive mobile experience. Particular attention was given to how users move between discovering workouts, refining their selections, and reviewing their progress. I explored different interface patterns, component structures, and visual hierarchies to create a system that feels intuitive without sacrificing functionality. The goal was to balance practical usability with a distinctive visual identity, using approachable typography, a restrained color palette, and clear, consistent interactions throughout the experience. The final exploration brings these ideas together through a series of interconnected screens, reusable components, and a unified design system. From workout search and filtering to activity dashboards and progress visualizations, each interface was designed to feel like part of a larger, functional product. Beyond the individual screens, the project provided an opportunity to strengthen my approach to UI design, apply research-informed design thinking, and explore how established interaction patterns can be reinterpreted into a fresh, thoughtful digital experience.
